Our personal favorite Maui location is Hana, on the remote eastern flank of Mt. Haleakala. A picturesque village, with deep Hawaiian roots, Hana town at Hana Bay, is the population and commercial center for all the rural East Maui communities that live along the Hana Highway. The acclaimed Hotel Hana Maui and Honua Spa is a popular destination, as is Hasegawa General Store, and the Hana Town Center, home to the Hana Post Office and the Hana Ranch Restaurant.

To the north of Hana you have Waianapanapa State Park and its black sand beach, then Kaeleku, home of the beautiful Hana Ag Park subdivision and tiny Hana airport. Continue north on the Hana Hwy to Nahiku, and the taro fields of Keanae.

To the south of Hana you have Hamoa beach with its oceanfront homes, mountainside Makaalae, with its panoramic oceanviews across Hana Ranch conservation lands, Puuiki, Haou, Kawaloa, Muolea, and Koali, all beautiful examples of oceanside Hana coast real estate. Kipahulu valley, home to Haleakala National Park, the pools at Oheo, and the gravesite of Charles Lindbergh, is followed only by Kaupo, and the famous Kaupo Store.
